On Sunday Samantha and I went to the Brooklyn Flea to kill a couple hours and inspire ourselves.
I found some jewelry made with vintage milk bottle caps. The artist used her father's collection from the 1950s to make earrings, bracelets, cuff links. Each cap is coated in sealant so you can wear your kitschy baubles without fear of water damage. She makes everything right there in Brooklyn so you know it's good.
Check out Milk Made.
In the back of the Williamsburg Savings Bank, where the Flea is now housed (until warmer days), I rediscovered a vendor that I loved last July. Back then he had a Camp 7 down vest that I should have bought. (I'm not kidding when I say that will be one of my big deathbed regrets: "I shoulda bought the vest!" Oh well. Maybe some day on eBay...) Check out his stash of boots above.
These old lace up Justins were especially squeal-inducing, but sadly the size was all wrong for me. Again, eBay...
Here's the tag to those phenomenal Justins.
This rack of Polo and Pendleton jackets would have looked even better last fall. They're still cozy, but my attention has turned to warm weather wear. (Although I am sure it will turn back when, no doubt, the temp drops below zero again.)
All I needed was a campfire, a 'smore, and that damn Camp 7 vest.
Other cool finds included Guru, beautiful Indian-inspired, gold leaf and jade jewelry by Zein Ahmed.
I plan to drag friends to the Flea this weekend as well, hopefully with a little coin to throw around. Buying is so much more fun than window shopping, don't you think? Details of my adventure to follow.
